Review From Debbie White★★★★★
We originally had planned a kitchen remodel but we ultimately decided to add an addition and expand the master bathroom and closet as well. The project became very complicated but Ryan managed the planning, subcontracting and scheduling of work masterfully. We worked together to design and implement each step of the addition/remodel. While bad weather did delay new construction, all proceeded timely thereafter. We are very pleased with our new kitchen, flooring, and bonus room. Our master bathroom is twice as large as originally built. This project has definitely increased the value of our home. Thank you to Norman Builders! - Debbie White
Took Our Concerns And Desires Into Account★★★★★
From the very start, Ryan and his team were amazing! In trying to find contractors we were getting the run around in trying to get people out for estimates, then raising the price at the last minute...then we contacted Norman Builders and the response was almost immediate. Ryan met with us, took our concerns and desires into account and took his time to address potential issues no one else has even talked to us about. He gave us a fair and detailed estimate very quickly and we decided to get going! From the first day, we saw so much progress! His team works hard! Neighbors often commented to us that it seemed like there was someone here all the time and that's because there was! The work was completed on time and we couldn't be happier with the quality and final results! Dale, Brian, and all of the subcontractors were excellent...everyone was courteous and cleaned up after themselves which was important to us with two small children and a dog living in the house during construction! When small issues arose, Ryan and the team dealt with them swiftly and without really any stress on our part. We are so very thrilled with the final results! Our first floor has been transformed and it is GORGEOUS!! Thank you Norman Builders!!!
Review From Virginia T.★★★★★
Norman Builders began our project at the end of June 2014 and completed the work at the beginning of November 2014. We were very impressed with Ryan’s professionalism and project management. For the most part, Ryan kept the project on schedule and finished within the estimated time frame. For a project of our size, there were very few issues and when an issue arose, Ryan addressed it immediately.. In one case, it appeared that the duct work for a split heating system would have to be installed on the interior wall rather than the exterior wall. Ryan met with the plumbing subcontractor and found a way to install the duct work on the exterior wall.to our satisfaction. Ryan’s willingness to consider alternative options as well as the fair and reasonable estimate for the project was one of the many reasons we decided to hire him for the job. As with all jobs, there were a number of changes and add-ons and we believe Ryan always gave us a reasonable price. We never had any problems with communication-Ryan was very quick to respond to any communications whether by phone email or text. As has been stated in prior reviews, Ryan’s sub contractors were excellent and did quality work. Most have worked for him for many years and you got the impression that they enjoyed working for him because he he was great to work with. A major renovation obviously causes disruption and inconvenience, but we think it went as well as it possibly could under Ryan’s supervision. Overall Norman builders did a great job and we are so happy with our beautiful new space. We would not hesitate to recommend Norman Builders and would certainly consider them for future projects. In fact, Norman Builders will be replacing our front door when the weather is warmer. - Virginia T.
Review From James E.★★★★★
"From the very beginning, Ryan was upfront about costs and responsibilities of all parties. When Ryan asked to begin the project a week later than originally planned, we were nervous, but he assured us that he would still be able to finish the project that was slotted for eight weeks in seven, and he did just that. - James E.

"I am writing this letter in reference to Ryan Norman from Norman Builders. We hired Ryan to complete an addition and renovation on our beach cottage at Hampton Beach, N.H. We spent several months searching for the right contractor and used Service Magic to screen contractors in the New Hampshire area. - Brad & Sara R.
A Dream For Our Family★★★★★
Planning: We met with three contractors and reviewed small, medium and larger options for our existing space. Ryan from Norman Builders won us over with his confidence, organization and no problem attitude. Of course we had concerns and questions, but it was clear he had worked in colonial houses before. What really won us over was his excitement to do something different with our space. From day one, you could tell every detail of this job mattered as this was a new way to design a traditional space. His timelines, pricing and execution plan was clearly laid out. As a GC, he organized everyone from; designer, permits, dumpsters, demo, electric, plumbing, painters, floors, ceilings, etc. He would do it all. The Job: Completely gut our existing kitchen and formal dining room. Remove a wall and install a steal support beam. He'd then move the kitchen to the old dining space and make the old kitchen a common area with built in desk, bench and bar area. The dining room would then be moved to our four season bonus room. Floors, wall, ceilings all came down. All new plumbing and lighting throughout the first floor. Execution: I mean, its funny to say, but we miss these guys. They practically lived with us for the summer. Couldn’t have been better with our entire family (kids and dog included) Everyone was so respectful of world climate (summer of Corona) and space. Of course you need patience with the process. Timelines were clear and the job finished slightly ahead of schedule. In the End: I mean, wow. When we looked at the blueprint on day one, we legit thought they shared the wrong plans. We couldn’t imagine everything we wanted would fit. They nailed it. It’s a dream space for our family and we couldn’t be happier. We couldn’t recommend Ryan Norman Builders any higher. We can’t wait to have them back to work on the upstairs next.
Review From Doug & Nancy R.★★★★★
Norman Builders just completed a full kitchen remodel on our home and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. The entire process from the estimate to completion was well planned and amazingly stress-free. The workmanship on all trades was top notch. Ryan’s father Dale is a master carpenter who paid the utmost attention to even the smallest detail and the results showed this level of professionalism and care. The electrical, plumbing, tile and flooring work was also completed at a high level of workmanship. All of the work was completed on time and as planned. Our new kitchen and hardwood flooring is spectacular. I would most definitely recommend Norman Builders. Thank you Ryan and your team for a job very well done! - Doug & Nancy R.
Review From Linda B.★★★★★
"Having lived through some real home-improvement nightmares in the past, we were very nervous about beginning another project, especially one of this scale. Impressed by the Angie’s List reviews raving about Norman Builders, we decided to give them a try, and we’re so pleased that we did! When I first met with Ryan to discuss the project, he immediately set my mind at ease. He was personable, knowledgeable, and optimistic that our bathroom visions could become reality. (I wasn’t sure whether the master bath expansion and plumbing relocation were even physically possible.) Throughout the project, Ryan kept us up to date with the process and what to expect. He always responded immediately to texts, emails, and phone calls whenever I had any questions. Ryan was able to point us in the right direction to select cabinetry, tiles, granite counter tops, mirrors, shower doors, and plumbing supplies. Every single vendor we met and worked with per Ryan’s recommendation proved to be very helpful, professional, and courteous. It was not uncommon to hear “Norman Builders? They’re excellent!” after telling a vendor who we were working with. Additionally, the plumbers, painters, electrician, granite installers, and mirror installers were all top notch. The bulk of the work was performed by Dale and Lance, who arrived on time every single day. Their work ethic and meticulous attention to detail are beyond compare. Lance is an artist with tile! They were both wonderful to work with, and a pleasure to have in our home. They built us three gorgeous bathrooms that we will enjoy for many years to come! - Linda B.
Very Cooperative and Maintained the Work Within Budget★★★★★
Did a excellent job on creating an apartment in my garage. Provided good crews, very cooperative and maintained the work within budget. I would use them again. - David V.
Ryan was able to envision our dreams as well as keeping our budget front and center★★★★★
Ryan and his team were able to take a complete sketch of ideas and turn it into our dream home. My husband and I are in our early 30s, moved back “home” after serving time in the military, most recently Colorado. We loved the look of the homes in CO along with their mountain/farmhouse vibes. Ryan was able to envision our dreams as well as keeping our budget front and center. We loved every step of the way and felt very involved which is what we wanted. Thank you again for all the hard work and getting things done! Ryan is who I would chose again and again for his immediate responses whether that’s email, text, phone call. That’s hard to come by these days with any contractors! He’s also always quick to take care of any issues that arise, as we know they always will. Very happy with our forever complete custom home Ryan built for us! - Lauren G.
All The Detail Work Came Out Great!★★★★★
I spent over a year trying to get our home renovation project off the ground. We met with many contractors that either found our project too large or too small. Our plans included adding on a 16x16 room, a large two-tiered deck, and renovating the entire first floor. Ryan came to check out our project and within no time had an all-inclusive estimate prepared for us. It was priced very reasonable and his presentation gave us comfort that he could handle our job. Ryan's crew was very considerate, especially considering we were staying in our home during the duration of the project. They were timely, requested consent to be there at various times and worked consistently to get our project done. Part of the project included custom doors and non-tradition trim/detail work. They handled this exceptionally. All the detail work came out great! We would absolutely hire Norman Builders for another project.
Honest, Professional, And Very Knowledgeable★★★★★
My husband and I cannot say enough about Ryan Norman, owner of Normal Builders. Starting with the initial contact, Ryan responded right away and upon meeting with him, was honest, professional and very knowledgeable. The turnaround time on a quote for the project was very fast (less than a week). We were so impressed with the quoted price as well as his online reviews that we hired Ryan immediately; we never even got a second quote! Communication was constant and consistent throughout the project. There were hardly any delays but we were always made aware of any slight change in plans right away. All of the subcontractors that worked on the project were highly skilled, responsible and professional. Never once did I hesitate leaving my home unattended when any of the contractors were there. Furthermore, it was evident that each person on his crew had the utmost respect for Ryan, something we found admirable. The overall finished product is far beyond our expectations. The space makes perfect sense in our home, like it was always there. The highlights include a vaulted ceiling, a large cased opening using 18th century barn wood as well as a custom transom window. The new room has enhanced our ability to entertain and we have already put it to good use! We would hire Ryan again without any hesitation and wholeheartedly recommend him for any project of any scope. Although there were many projects running simultaneously, we always felt like we were Ryan's only clients!
On Time, Courteous, And Professional★★★★★
From the very beginning, Ryan was upfront about costs and responsibilities of all parties. When Ryan asked to begin the project a week later than originally planned, we were nervous, but he assured us that he would still be able to finish the project that was slotted for eight weeks in seven, and he did just that. Ryan's father, Dale, did the majority of the carpentry work, and did an excellent job at that. All of the subcontractors (plumbing, electrical, flooring) were on time, courteous, and did professional work. The only cost overruns we experienced were small and outside the scope of our original agreement. Ryan was always easy to reach if we had a question, and he performed excellent work for us.
Stayed On Schedule And The Quality Of Work Is Very, Very Good★★★★★
We contracted with Ryan for a master bath and closet remodel (new closet built ins) and as the project progressed we decided to add some additional work with new hardwood floors, baseboard trim and paint in the master bedroom. Ryan and all his contractors were very professional and punctual. Everything was handled smoothly with no real surprises. Communication was excellent. Even with the add-ons, they stayed on schedule and the quality of work is very, very good. The best part was at the end of every day the job site was cleaned up. We actually stayed in our master bedroom throughout until it was time to install the floor and paint. We would hire him again 100%.
Brought All Of The Pieces Together To Deliver A Beautiful Product In A Timely Fashion★★★★★
It was a pleasure working with Ryan Norman on the extensive interior renovation of our 1895 Andover home, and we are incredibly pleased with the results. Every phase of this project was well organized and managed, starting with the contracting negotiation phase. Ryan patiently worked with us to revise the contract multiple times to include as many details up front as possible, so as to minimize unexpected surprises from both the construction and cost perspective. We found his trade crews took pride in the high quality of their work, a reflection of their attention to detail. We also found Ryan’s costs to be market competitive, and the few unexpected expenses were discussed in advance and transparently explained. We realized various value-add modifications during the process and Ryan gamely and easily made the improvements. As homeowners, we were very picky about the final, high-end finish for this kitchen and bath remodeling; and, so, we approached Ryan already having selected a granite fabricator and cabinetry supplier. While I have no doubt that Ryan can make excellent referrals to integrate these services on any project, he worked professionally and seamlessly with these other companies. Ryan also kept up good communication to ensure that we made finish selections on time to avoid undue delays. Ryan brought all of the pieces together to deliver a beautiful product in a timely fashion. Work included: chimney removal; kitchen and bath demolition to the studs; hardwood floor removal, subfloor modifications and hardwood floor installation; significant carpentry, plumbing, electrical, plastering, tiling and painting; re-framing and installation of windows and doors; and installation of high end built-in appliances and custom cabinetry with crown and other trim details. All inspections easily passed, and we have great confidence in the construction and will enjoy our beautiful new kitchen and bath for years to come! We highly recommend your working with Ryan Norman on your next project!
Review From George C.★★★★★
From the first time we met with Ryan Norman, we knew he was the builder we wanted to work with. His calm, relaxed demeanor in talking through all the details in preparation for signing the contract inspired confidence. From the first day of the job it was clear that everyone in his crew was on the same page, and work never stopped from October 1st thru the end of the job six months later. Keep in mind that through the last two and a half months of the job, the men had to sometimes shovel or blow snow out of the way before they could even get into the house to work. This was not an easy job for Ryan’s crew. Our house is 120 years old, and once the walls were opened up there were many obstacles to be negotiated to meet the design specifications. Never once did they try to talk us out of something we wanted in our design in favor of taking a short cut that would make the work easier for them. We ended up with exactly what our designer drew up, with some recommendations from Dale on how to make things work even better. I might add that we were could not have been easy clients to work with. We had several add-ons that were not in the original contract. Every time we approached Ryan and Dale with another request — tearing out a fireplace and rebuilding it on the fly, adding small improvements to other rooms –they were perfectly professional, and put up with a lot of requests from us, and also some bull from a contractor we wanted to go with before we finally found someone who could do the job right and coordinate well with Ryan’s crew. We used more than one sub-contractor chosen by ourselves. Ryan and his people communicated and worked well with whoever came on the job. Ryan’s own subs, especially his plumber and electrician and tile person, did an excellent job. It was clear that each of them took pride in their work. This was our first experience with a renovation, and it was difficult to give our house over to someone and trust that it would turn out alright. In fact it turned out better than we imagined. I don’t know if the workmanship can be matched anywhere. We highly recommend Norman Builders for whatever you have planned. The job will get done right. - George C.
Review From Bill M.★★★★★
Overall, we have been quite pleased with the work done for us. We had a variety of work done for two independent projects. The work involved indoor and outdoor work and required a number of subcontractors all managed through Norman Builders. The workmanship was high quality and the projects were completed according to plan in a timely manner. We will certainly use this group again in the future. - Bill M.
Review From Helene D.★★★★★
"Just had to write to tell you how much we love our home. I have lived in two previous homes and have never had the wonderful kitchen I have here. I finally have a kitchen designed with a woman in mind. - Helene D.
The communication was seamless★★★★★
This was our second time hiring Norman Builders and the experience was just as amazing as the first! Ryan and his team remodeled our kitchen in 2018 and we knew right away that we wanted them back to do our master bathroom. The communication was seamless and the quality of work done by Brian, Kevin, Lance and all of the plumbers and electricians was top notch! Everyone was amazing especially when dealing with all of my questions and design ideas, including rearranging the layout and plumbing to accommodate my request for a large picture window with a soaker tub in front of it and having multiple shower heads that all function independently as well as together! The heated floors are also a favorite as well as our closet that Brian designed! We are so thrilled with the the final results and our bathroom is now a sanctuary that I never want to leave! Thank you Norman Builders!!
My Home Was Treated Respectfully And Always Left Clean★★★★★
Norman Builders renovated 3 bathrooms for me: a master bath, a common bath and a powder room. The project went extremely well and surpassed all my expectations in every regard. The project started exactly when scheduled. Once the work began, the project ran very smoothly. The team members were all very professional, skilled craftsmen and were punctual without fail. I was always kept informed of any scheduling changes ahead of time and advised of any unavoidable delays or issues. Any unforeseen issues with the project that came up were quickly and efficiently managed and resolved. Any changes I chose to incorporate into the design plan along the way were handled seamlessly. My home was treated respectfully and always left clean. The workmanship on the stone tile work was superb. The finished carpentry work was done beautifully. The final result was all I had hoped for and more. I have had a number a projects of similar scope done over the years at various homes I have owned and I can honestly say this was the single best experience I have ever had on such a project. Norman Builders is a very well run business. If you are lucky enough to have them do your next project you will not be disappointed. Thank you, Ryan! - name
Review From Dan M.★★★★★
From first contact for quote to the last day of the project, Ryan’s professionalism, responsiveness, and organization surpassed my expectations. Our project included significant structural work, framing, roofing, plumbing, HVAC, sewer/excavation, tile, windows, and finish work, and the quality of all of Ryan’s subs was outstanding. The project was finished ahead of schedule, on budget, and we are enjoying our new space immensely. This was a massive and disruptive project for us. With two little kids we needed to move out of our house for 4 months. But Ryan’s communication throughout the project kept us informed of what was happening, what was going to happen next, and decisions we needed to make to keep the project on track. Our ability to text or call Ryan at any time and expect a response very quickly kept us at ease that he was in control and on track. I could not have imagined that it could have gone any better. I would use Ryan again in a heartbeat. - Dan M.
Review From Roland M.★★★★★
Great job. The addition is a real enhancement to our home and well worth the effort. The crews were very responsive to our questions and requests during the process. You were too and that was appreciated. What I liked, especially, is that we started with a minimum design at a very reasonable cost. Then we were able to work with you to add features and modifications as we went along and our ideas changed. - Roland M.
Review From Jeff & Nancy L.★★★★★
"Thank you Ryan for your professional management of the project. We appreciate your attention to details and your flexibility throughout the duration of the project. In the case of the tree removal, we felt you took the extra effort to get the work skillfully performed at a lower cost. While this work was not originally within the scope of the project, you were willing to subcontract this work instead of deferring it to us to manage. - Jeff & Nancy L.
Review From Michael C.★★★★★

Review From John H.★★★★★
We were introduced to Ryan Norman by friends in Newmarket New Hampshire where we had bought our new home. They had used Ryan for work on their home and were really pleased. We could see from their house that his work was top quality. Ryan’s bid for our remodel was concise, detailed, and reasonable. This was a large job that included gutting bathrooms, putting on an addition, an entire new roof, and painting inside and out. There was excavating, electrical, and plumbing involved. Ryan was patient and thorough during all the months of our work. He was responsive to all of our questions and changes. Furthermore, his crews were outstanding. Really great guys. Polite and expert. And Ryan’s follow-up during the entire finishing was extremely helpful. We would highly recommend Ryan and his company. - John H.
The Result Is Outstanding★★★★★
Our project consisted of the conversion of two bedrooms and a spare room into a Primary Suite, with Bedroom, Bathroom, walk-in closet and separate laundry. From the moment we started to the finish, we were continually in awe of the coordination with and by Ryan, the pleasure of working with his top tier crew and subs, and the finished product. As the start date approached, Ryan made the decision to start two weeks early, in consideration of finishing prior to Thanksgiving. He dealt easily with unique questions from the local Historical Committee, and finished the project exactly on schedule.
